I've been talking a lot about how the whole Akina-Gray thing went down. Here is some more concrete information.
You gotta love this quote by Manny Diaz:
Mack asked Manny if he had any problems with bringing in such a decorated experienced position coach as Jerry Gray especially considering the experience difference and potential for an awkward working relationship because of it.
Diaz responded, “So you’re bringing in one of the greatest defensive players in UT history, a guy who’s coached teams in the NFL, and even been a defensive coordinator in the League? A guy who’s going to kill it on the recruiting trail because he’s had a great career playing and coaching and he’s a Texas legend? Hell, coach, I’ll fly the plane to pick him up myself if you need me to.”
